   Tablature Explained

Fig 1.

Here we have the general tablature layout. These lines depict the 6 strings of the guitar e, a, d, g, b, e. The Bass string on the bottom and high/thinnest strings at the top.

		e|--------------------------------------------------|
		B|--------------------------------------------------|
		G|--------------------------------------------------|
		D|--------------------------------------------------|
		A|--------------------------------------------------|
		E|--------------------------------------------------|

Fig 2.

On the lines of the tab we have numbers that correspond to the frets of the guitar. This example shows the A Pentatonic scale, starting on the 5th fret of the E string(bass) and ending on the 8th fret of the e(high) string. These notes are played individually as they are staggered.

		e|-----------------------------------5--8-----------|
		B|-----------------------------5--7-----------------|
		G|-----------------------5--7-----------------------|
		D|-----------------5--7-----------------------------|
		A|------------5--7----------------------------------|
		E|------5--8----------------------------------------|

Fig 3.

Here we have chord layouts, if the fret numbers are above each other, as shown below, then these are played as a chord or strummed. The example below shows A, Am and G chords. Chord names are normally displayed above the chords.

0 - This should be played as an open string

		     Am A G
		e|---0-------0------3-------------------------------|
		B|---1-------2------0-------------------------------|
		G|---2-------2------0-------------------------------|
		D|---2-------2------0-------------------------------|
		A|---0-------0------2-------------------------------|
		E|------------------3-------------------------------|
